“She would be half a planet away, floating in a turquoise sea, dancing by moonlight to flamenco guitar.”
― Janet Fitch, White Oleander
So today was family day at the VMFA where once a month, we load up the van for the 10 minute drive to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. It has become a family tradition as we've done it a little over a year now. Well today, we ran into a "repeat" project, so my husband gave me the "OK" to take the baby and tour the museum while he stayed with our oldest to complete the project! (What does our 4 year old care if he made stamps 6 months ago? A little tedious for me though--And yes!---I know, I have an awesome husband!)
There was an ensemble of older students playing beautiful classical music while I danced with my 10 month old on my hip. Recently I've been obsessed with the structure of the human face and the connection between color, music, nature and visual art. Kadinsky and Klee have been 2 of my favorites, balanced by the classical influence of Greece and Egypt and the softness of the Korean panels. Most of the pictures on my website are my own but please note the ones below are photographs from the VMFA.
