Age merely shows what children we remain.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Yesterday I volunteered with Art on Wheels, one of my favorite programs to support! http://www.artonwheels-va.org/ We traced shapes onto foam and then carved them out! We're making paper next class to pour into the molds. I think the students enjoy it but I know I get as much out of it as they do. I'm just starting to remember my student's names but I know one always wears citrine because she's a November scorpio baby. She's a good artist and the "leader" of her table!
Then there is another woman, Laura (not her real name) who can barely see. I didn't know this the first time we worked together when she vehemently defended the difference between coral and red, when we chose beads! (A woman after my own heart!) She then told me she used to be a math teacher, so we talked about the similarities between math and art. She trusted me more during the sculpting lesson and I was able to pick up her fingers and show her where she was missing the cutouts.
I really enjoy and learn so much by working with "Art on Wheels". Check out the pictures!
